WORLD TELEVISION DAY The General Assembly of the United Nations in 1996 declared this date World Television Day. Encouragement was given to observe this special day by encourageing global exchanges of programs focusing on issues such as security, peace, social and economic developemnt and also to the enhancement of cultural exchanges. This is a great day to have some friends and neighbors over to watch some intellectual programming rather than the usual sitcoms. While enjoying each others company, you will be able to grow in a new cultural awareness. Perhaps a unique menu of diverse cultural recipes would be engaging here and encourage meaningful dialog. Wow, parties can be intellectually stimulating as well as fun! Pumpkin Pie Day
NORTH CAROLINA ADMITTED TO THE UNION AS THE 21ST STATE IN 1789.
WORLD HELLO DAY The first World Hello Day was established in 1973. It was begun in response to the conflict between Egypt and Israel. Anyone can freely participate in this November celebration by simply greeting ten people. This in turn demonstrates the importance of personal communication for preserving peace. Celebrate humanity today and greet people with a cheerful hello. Don't stop at only people you know; show your respect for all. Make eye contact with strangers and give a cheerful hello! NATIONAL CASHEW DAY What would November celebrations be without National Cashew Day? You don't have to be "nuts" to throw a party today but it would definately help. How about entertaining a few folks and providing snacks that revolve around this delicious roasted nut. It's hard to find anyone who doesn't love cashews. Cocktails and bowls of cashews strewn about would make nice nibbling fare. Maybe you can be very creative and rustle up some recipes that incorporate cashews for something a bit hardier. Perhaps a Chinese Cashew Chicken as an entree and a brownie laden with cashews for dessert. Wow, we're getting hungry already. For an interesting bit of "nutty" cocktail trivia: Did you know that cashews are closely related to the Mango and Pistachio plants? Who would have ever guessed?
